SEAWOMANSHIP & Point Break are Having a Raffle & Auction
SAN DIEGO, CALIFORNIA (January 26, 2010) Since the move from our former location to our current location, a few vocal customers have let us know that they are not thrilled with the look and decor of the new Point Break. One customer even sent us an email saying “I was really sort of grossed out by the beer pong, hooters style, sports bar, ye olde nautical look.” Huh? Around here we euphemistically refer to our ambiance as having “character”.
Apparently this customer is not alone in her sentiment and we agree that the place could use a wee bit of work. So we’re planning a little remodel for March. However, the move to our current location required the spending of a king’s ransom on things such as plumbing, electrical, HVAC, refrigerators, fire safety, and every piece of restaurant equipment known to mankind. This has left us what we call in business “undercapitalized” (read “broke”).
This is where SEAWOMANSHIP comes in. The extraordinary women of SEAWOMANSHIP have generously offered to facilitate and sponsor a makeover of Point Break this Spring. Very cool!! In order to raise funds for said makeover we are having an Auction and Raffle. Here are the details:
Where: Point Break, 2743 Shelter Island Drive, 92106
When: Friday, February 12, 2010, 6pm to 8pm

Point Break Café Moves to New Shelter Island Location
SAN DIEGO, CALIFORNIA (April 10, 2009) – Point Break Cafe, a Shelter Island favorite since 2004, has announced that it is moving one block southeast of its current location to 2743 Shelter Island Drive on April 28th. Point Break will now be residing in the former Shelter Island Boll Weevil building, which has been vacant since December. This move means the popular breakfast and lunch eatery will increase its capacity an additional 40 people from its current site.
Point Break’s relocation is a welcomed change to the Shelter Island community since the vacant Boll Weevil building has been a sad reminder of the heartbreaking bankruptcy of the former landmark restaurant. The building will once again be occupied by a thriving local restaurant which has experienced record growth amidst the current economic environment.
“We feel lucky that we have been able to grow and expand in a time when many local businesses are struggling,” says owner Kevin Lewis. “This move will allow us to accommodate more customers while still serving the same quality food at the same affordable prices.”
The café will remain open at its current location until the move. Patrons will be able to visit the new location beginning April 28th.
